This new heron deterrent utilises bright lights, sound and a laser to scare predators away from your fish. The ultimate detterent this product was voted 'best in show' in October 2017 at the Uk's biggest aquatic exhibition. Bright goldfish or koi will always attract herons. In a clear pond they are easy for a hungry heron to pick up from far above. In spring they need to feed their young, in summer to feed themselves and in autumn when alternative food is scarce.

To protect my valued pond fish in a new pond, I installed both a Velda Laser Guard Heron Deterrent and a Velda complete set for Electric Fencing. I checked carefully that the Laser Guard was activated over the whole area of the pond. The heron soon got used to the flashing and the sound and cleared the fish within 2 days. it is also a pity that a person speaking fluent English had not edited the instructions. The electric fence was also installed at the same time according to instructions and I checked it was functioning with an electric meter. The heron put it's head under the lower wire which was set 15cm above the ground level as instructed. The electric shock did not seem to deter it. Another problem with the fence was that after uprights were not really strong enough and although he wire was only reasonably taught some of them distorted I have a picture which I cannot find immediately Altogether a disappointing and expensive experience.

Pretty good, easy to set up, but heron season hasn't fully started yet so hard to tell. Seem to be relatively insensitive to other wildlife in my set up but that is what I wanted.

Looks good sounds seem to deter invasion of my pond But Heron still takes fish!

This is an expensive product and it's simply not fit for purpose and does NOT do what it says on the tin. Heron sits beside the thing and is not intimidated in any way. Total waste of money
