Pondless Water Features

Building a Pondless Waterfall Final Reveal | HometalkWe love ponds; they provide an endless source of entertainment with wildlife, fish, waterfalls and water fountains. But if you don’t have the space, money, or time for a pond but you want to have a water-based feature, then pondless water features are a great way to add sound and movement to your garden.

Pondless water features, or "disappearing ponds", circulate water between a reservoir and a stream/waterfall. The water flows through a rock base into the reservoir and disappears. No matter your budget, there is a pondless water feature that will add a beautiful aesthetic to your landscape.

Get the Sound of Running Water and Create a Garden Focal Point

A pondless waterfall adds movement and provides a stunning highlight in your garden. The pondless water feature can be eye-catching and dramatic more low-key and relaxing. It can be constructed to suit your needs and give the chosen area a purpose.

The sound of running water can also create a peaceful, soothing effect while displacing background noise, like traffic. Being by water can promote calmness, focus, creativity and better sleep quality.

Create a Low Maintenance Area of Your Garden

Reduce lawn maintenance by adding a pondless water feature; the only maintenance required is adding a small amount of water to the reservoir every couple of weeks to replace evaporated water.

Save money

Pondless water features are more cost effective than other types of water features. There is less labour and maintenance involved than with a traditional pond / water feature, and you'll also have fewer materials or treatments to take into consideration. The installation is relatively straight forward and the water feature can provide lots of enjoyment.

Assembling your Pondless Water Feature

The purchased liner should be big enough to create a small stream from the top of your waterfall to the bottom of your reservoir. There are no clear-cut dimensions for your reservoir and the shape of the stream is entirely up to you.

The pump will need to be situated in your reservoir and the hose/clips provided can be used to link your pump to the top of your waterfall or stream. We would recommend that the distance from the pump to the top of the waterfall is no longer than 10m long and 2m above the surface of the pond.

The heavy-duty grid and insert panel can be used to cover your reservoir so that you can hide it with plants, stones or other creative methods. Please do not place stones within the reservoir unless you have ensured the pump is unobstructed.
